The Constitution of the United States, Amendment 25, ratifed on February 10, 1967 applies: "Whenever there is a vacancy in the office of the Vice President, the President shall nominate a Vice President who shall take office upon confirmation by a majority vote of both Houses of Congress." Our sources tell us Condi Rice will have no problem being confirmed as the next vice president of the United States.
"More than an unsubstantiated rumor", this will be the process:
Vice President Dick Cheney to resign for health reasons.
President Bush nominates Condoleezza Rice to become our next vice president.
The House of Representatives and the Senate confirm Condi by a majority vote.
America has its first woman and black vice president.
Look to see this process unfold fairly rapidly. The President will be leaving tommorrow for a six day trip to Latin America. Nothing will happen till he returns. We want to congratulate the next and 47th vice president of the United States - Good luck Condi!

oh my
Is this a joke or for real??
not your mama:
Its what we heard to be "more than an unsubstantiated rumor." Lets see what happens.
no way the house confirms her
This is certainly an interesting scenario. One aspect is whether the Republican party feels they could get behind the presumptive nominee for President in 2008. While Condi enjoys a relationship with the President (another ripe topic of speculation!), she has not done much to secure a base in the party.
Look for Cheney joining the President in Bolivia - and staying there.
