Mitt Ahead Big in Iowa and New Hampshire But Has No Hope of Winning Nevada or New York or the Republican Nomination With His Pro-Life Position

Why Mitt Romney has no chance of winning Nevada or New York:

The abortion debate is old and tired and upsets people. We settled it here in Nevada years ago with two votes of the people to make our state constitution pro-choice. Now Mitt shows us he is against states rights by supporting a federal constitutional amendment to overturn our state constitution. Our advice to Mitt - even though Nevada comes after Iowa don't campaign out here. It would be a waste of time with your pro-life position. This state will go for Mayor Giuliani big time. Whats the purpose of winning Iowa and New Hampshire when you lose the Northwest, California, New York and the nomination. What a tragedy because Mitt Romney is the best qualified candidate in the race. He has run businesses and a large state. He is still young enough and has the energy to do the job. He doesn't drink or suffer from a drug addled brain.

What would be a better strategy on abortion?
Mitt should say he is personally pro life but that abortion is a decision that should be left to the states. Supporting states rights will lose him a lot less votes than trying to push his individual moral views on the rest of the country. Plus the people don't want another debate about abortion. I could list ten other issues which are more pressing. Its too bad too, Mitt Romney would of made a good President. I am afraid his support of a pro-life constitutional amendment will deny him not only the Presidency, but most likely the Republican nomination.

What is really tragic about this:
People may get the idea Mitt is shoving his religion down our throats and that is very unfair to him. His stand on abortion is going to bring another unwelcome issue into the campaign - Mitt's Mormonism. That should not even be an issue. But Mitt will make it one. Bummer! Some of the more bigoted evangelicals he is catering too with his abortion stand don't even believe Mormons are Christians. We all have read the literature by some narrow minded Christians, that Mormonism is a cult. They would not vote for Mitt no matter what his position on abortion was. Why throw pearls to swine?

Like Father, Like Son:
I am old enough to remember George Romney's comment that he was brainwashed on Viet Nam. Mitt's position on abortion is going to be his downfall just as his fathers comment on brainwashing was. We in Nevada already went thru two divisive elections on abortion, now Mitt wants to drag us thru this again. I don't think so. Mitt was effectively pro choice. Now he backs the platform of the Republican party to override what the voters of Nevada have decided. We are pro-choice here. Does Mitt want a civil war? What happened to states rights? He is probably the most qualified candidate in the election. Ann Romney would of made a terrific first lady. I was even thinking of changing from a democrat to republican to vote for Mitt in the January 19 caucus. But why bother now. What a waste. Mitt could of been a contender.

Mitt Practices Religious Bigotry and He Does Not Even Know It:
Mitt made a comment about the Salafis in the Middle East. He has not been the only one lately to use that word instead of terrorist, as if they are one in the same. There are a lot of Salafi Muslims in the UAE - United Arab Emirates and they have had no terrorist attacks. Salafi and terrorism are not interchangeable words. We have a whole section here on Muslim links. Go to PalTalk and sign on the room Islam Answers Back and talk to some real Salafi Muslims. None of them are terrorists.

Mitt Speaks Fluent French:
Look what the French have done with nuclear power. We need the same thing here. Remember WHOOPS, when Washington state decided to fast track the construction of nuclear plants. They were building the plants before they even had them fully designed. Of course they lost billions of dollars and the cost of power skyrocketed in the Pacific Northwest. The French have the same plants everywhere. They know how to use nuclear power safely and efficiently. Mitt as president could be over there getting that technology for us. What a shame he won't get that chance.

What Mitt Can Do to Save the Situation:
Support state rights Mitt. No one has to run on the party platform. Who reads the party platform to begin with? Be pro-life by all means, but a pro-life constitutional amendment has no chance of passage. We got bigger problems to deal with. If you change your mind on this, I promise I will become a Republican and support you. I will even give you money. Mitt Romney should be more than a footnote in Presidential history. Supporting a federal pro-life constitutional amendment is a doomed strategy! His train to the White House will derail after New Hampshire if he stays the present course.

Clintons Meet the Romneys in Clear Lake, Iowa

The Romneys and Clintons had a friendly encounter in Clear Lake, Iowa in July.
"Mr. President, how are you, Mitt Romney," the Republican said after finding Bill Clinton working the three-deep crowd gathering along Main Ave. "This is my wife, Ann, and my son, Josh."

After introductions were made, Romney observed that "this is kinda fun."

"How many times you done this before?" he asked.

"Once or twice," Clinton deadpanned.

"I bet that's right," Romney responded with a laugh.

Deep Doo-Doo for Mitt Romney

After looking and looking, this is about the worst we have found out about Mitt Romney, other than he speaks French with a Parisian accent. In 1983, Romney's dog made a 12-hour trip from Boston to Ontario in a carrier (it had a windscreen) lashed to the top of the family station wagon. The dog was not hurt as far as we know and Governor Romney said that his dog liked being on the roof. "He scrambled up there every time we went on trips," Mitt said. Time reported:
Before beginning the drive, Mitt Romney put Seamus, the family's hulking Irish setter, in a dog carrier and attached it to the station wagon's roof rack. He'd built a windshield for the carrier, to make the ride more comfortable for the dog.

As the oldest son, Tagg Romney commandeered the way-back of the wagon, keeping his eyes fixed out the rear window, where he glimpsed the first sign of trouble. ''Dad!'' he yelled. ''Gross!'' A brown liquid was dripping down the back window, payback from an Irish setter who'd been riding on the roof in the wind for hours.

As the rest of the boys joined in the howls of disgust, Romney coolly pulled off the highway and into a service station. There, he borrowed a hose, washed down Seamus and the car, then hopped back onto the highway. It was a tiny preview of a trait he would grow famous for in business: emotion-free crisis management.

Mitt speaks French:

Mitt = France? Mitt = Hero? Mitt Romney Speaks Fluent Parisian French - SuperMitt Romney Rescues Six Boaters, Some Kayakers and a 14 Year Old Girl!

Governor Mitt Romney lived in France for two and a half years. He was hurt badly in a head on car wreck there. He was the victim of a drunken driver. The French authorities declared him dead. Lucky he made it, and that was lucky for the people he rescued later.

In the summer of 2003, Mitt was at his vacation home at Lake Winnipesaukee in New Hampshire when he heard a boat drift by. Later family members heard some screams for help. Mitt and two of his sons immediately jumped on two Waverunners and helped rescued half a dozen people and a dog out of the water. Their boat had sunk about 300 yards from shore and Mitt helped bring them into the shore. In an earlier incident he rescued some kayakers on the same lake.

Presidental Religious Affiliations - Quaker, Jehovah's Witnesses, Catholic, Baptist, Deist - Its the Man or Woman that Counts

Jack Kennedy talks about religion in American politics:

Religious bigotry still exists in America today. Preacher Bill Keller says a vote for Mitt Romney is a vote for Satan. He says the Mormon religion is a cult. We have heard that before from other preachers. Lets hope Mitt Romney does not say the Shahada and becomes a Salafi muslim. Then we will really hear from these bigots. I never heard Mitt Romney bad mouth anyones religion. Ask Mitt Anything the sign says, but I hope people show some respect and not ask him if he is wearing magic underwear! Not being a Mormon, I studied the history and theology of Mormonism. It gave me a headache, one side says this, the other side says that. One thing I think I know for sure, its not a cult. If you are going to vote against Mitt Romney, vote against him because of his flip-flop on abortion or because Ann Coulter supports him. Not because he is a Mormon. A Night With Ann Coulter:

Mitt Romney is catching fire in Iowa and New Hampshire with a ten point lead in both states. Today he was campaigning in New Hampshire where he has a home. Even with his flip-flop on abortion, his endorsement from Ann Coutler and his Mormon religion, Mitt Romney has a good chance of becoming President. He has a tremendous family, is a great businessman and has a huge amount of energy. His campaign organization is first class and he is good at fund raising. About the worse we can say about Mitt personally, is that he speaks French. And as far as Mitt being president, we could do a lot worse. President Mitt Romney's agenda:

Mitt Romney is Pro Life on Abortion

Mitt Romney said he was unwavering pro-choice, but he has flip-flopped and now says he is pro-life:

We had earlier posted videos of Mitt Romney's effective pro-choice stand on abortion. Now he says he is pro-life. Is this a flip-flop, or has he come full circle on this issue?

While governor of Massachusetts he was pro-choice and said he would not waver on that stand. But he seems to have wavered big time:

Mitt Romney's Flip Flop on Abortion
Well what a flip-flop. To get elected governor of Massachusetts he needed to be pro-choice. To get the 2008 Republican presidential nomination he needs to be pro-life but he just does not come out and say that, instead he said his position has "evolved". His advisor Michael Murphy said that "he's been a pro-life Mormon faking it as a pro-choice friendly." Makes you wonder if he was ever pro-choice to begin with. Is Mitt Romney a political opportunist? We just hope he respects states rights. In Nevada we had two elections to put the pro-choice position in our state constitution. We can live with his pro-life position as long as he respects our state constitution. This would be terrible if this becomes a big campaign issue. Nothing worse than another big debate on abortion, especially with the huge problems facing the country. We got no problem with Mitt being a Mormon. A huge plus for Governor Romney - his business background but we wonder about his track record as governor of Massachusetts. Jim Cramer called him the best businessman in North America. The next president will need those skills. Those skills are more important than his position on abortion, unless he decides to shove his latest opinion on abortion down the rest of the country's throat.

A real positive for the Mitt Romney campaign is Ann Romney. Here is a video on the decision to run for president. While still upset about Mitt's flip-flop on abortion, we think Ann would be an excellent first lady:

One thing we can all can agree with is we should support the troops. We support the "Surge of Support" for the troops:
